SUMMARY:VISIT TO GRAISELEY OLD HALL, WOLVERHAMPTON
DESCRIPTION:Tucked away in Pennfields between Lea and Road and Penn Road, Graiseley Old Hall is a little-known part of Wolverhampton’s history. it is not opened to the public very often and we are privileged to be able to orgaise a tour around it.\nThe Wolverhampton History website says: “The present house was built at the end of the 15th century, and is the oldest building in Wolverhampton after St.Peter’s Church. The interior of the house, after the careful restoration by Mr. George Green, preserves much of its Tudor original, the ceilings and walls having been kept in position. In one place a specimen is preserved of the old wattle, and the moulded ceiling is original. The exterior timberwork was replaced in brick about the time of Queen Anne, probably by John Jesson, formerly of West Bromwich, who dies at Graiseley in 1712.”\nYou will need to make your own way to the hall. Access to it is via Lea Road and then turn into Carlton Road. The hall’s entrance gates are at the end of Carlton Road and you can park once you are inside the gates.\n
