Thoroughly Modern Midlands
Lecturer: Ed Isaacs.
A couple of years ago we enjoyed a lecture on modernism to coincide with the centenary of the Bauhaus. As a celebration of the long-awaited publication of the new Pevsner Guide to the buildings of Birmingham and the Black Country, Ed Isaacs is following up this earlier lecture with a talk that specifically explores the modern and contemporary architecture of our local area; an area that is rich in important buildings in a wide range of styles from Arts and Crafts to Brutalism and Post-Modernism.
Ed Isaacs. Contemporary artist and curator, Ed, is vice-chairman of The Arts Society Wolverhampton and is delivering this lecture at no charge. He has retained a life-long interest in architecture and buildings often feature in his art. Ed is Honorary Curator of the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, delivers talks regularly for various organisations across the Midlands and has recently acted as a guide for British Art Show 9.
