Why Roy Lichtenstein Matters
Dr Kate Aspinall has degrees from St Andrews University, the Courtauld Institute and the University of East Anglia and specialises in twentieth century visual culture. She is a consultant to the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation and has served as a trustee to the Association of Art History representing freelance and independent art historians. Roy Lichtenstein has captivated the art world since the 1960’s and his style is controversial. His work can appear simplistic, tongue in cheek and intuitive: but it has become ubiquitous and influential. This lecture closely examines Lichtenstein’s paintings, sculptures, tapestries and drawings.
